The river Thames
Length: 330 km = the longest river in England
2/3 of London's drinking water comes from the Thames
The Tideway is the part of the River Thames in England that is subject to tides. This stretch of water is downstream from Teddington Lock and in its widest definition is just under 26 kilometres long.
The actions of the tides (the rise (flood) and fall (ebb) of the water level) is one of the most significant differences between the River Thames above and below Teddington. Twice a day the tide rises and falls.
(Tidvatten är ett fenomen som upprepar sig med stor regelbundenhet. Det uppstår på grund av solens och framförallt månens dragningskraft på jorden. Vid flod stiger vattenytan tills högvatten uppnås. Därefter följer ebb då vattnet drar sig tillbaka till den lägsta nivån, som är lågvatten.)
Thames Barrier är en 20 meter hög och 520 meter lång översvämningsbarriär i floden Themsen, öster om London. Den har som uppgift att skydda London undan översvämningar.
The Thames passes by some of the sights of London, including the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye.
About 37 major rowing clubs along the Thames

Brittisk dramaserie om ett gäng unga basketspelare. Tränaren Baggy söker efter nya spelare till sitt basketlag Desperados. Han tvingas kämpa hårt för att laget ska överleva och kunna stanna kvar i ligan. Till Desperados kommer Charlie, en före detta lovande fotbollsspelare, Gabby, tidigare kapten för ett flicklag, och den stökige Kyle. Alla spelarna är rullstolsburna, och tränaren Baggys ledord är You might think this is a basketball team. You´re wrong, it´s a way of life. Baggy spelas av Ade Adepitan, Paralympicsmedaljör i rullstolsbasket.

It was built because of London's rapid growth during the 19th Century. The population grew quickly due the the industrial revolution. (ångmaskin, mekanisk spinnmaskin och vävstol, symaskin, dynamit mm)
Today - three million passengers a day
The first trains were steam trains
Today - electrified
During the second world war it was used as shelter during bombings. They also used it to evacuate over 200 000 people to the countryside

Everglades är ett träskområde (swamp land) i Florida, USA. I områdets södra del ligger Everglades nationalpark, som ingår bland Unescos naturvärldsarv.
I Everglades anordnas turer med air boats. De drivs av en stor fläkt i aktern på båten för att kunna köras på grunda vatten, där en undervattenspropeller ej går att använda.
Everglades är en stor turistattraktion i området. Det är mest känt för de många alligatorer som lever i området.
